A US intelligence report has revealed that Prince Mohammed bin Salman had approved the assassination. The former US President Donald Trump had covered up the matter.

The report states that, since 2017, the Crown Prince has full control over the Saudi security and intelligence agencies. And it is highly unlikely that Saudi officials have carried out such acts without his permission. The U.S. report names 21 people who were either directly involved in Khashoggi’s assassination or in some other way.

The US has imposed sanctions on some of those involved in the assassination. Last month, the US blamed Saudi Arabia for human rights violations in Yemen. The Biden administration ended its support for Saudi Arabia’s war in Yemen.

In his first meeting since becoming president, Biden reaffirmed the US position on global human rights and the rule of law during talks with Saudi King Salman last week.

Hatice Cengiz said it was important for Biden and all world leaders to ask themselves if they should shake hands with someone like Saudi crown prince, who had been found a murderer.

The Saudi government initially said it had no information about Khashoggi. Later it accepted responsibility for the killing, but said Prince Mohammed bin Salman was not involved in the operation.

Hatice Cengiz said that after the CIA investigation report, the Crown Prince no longer has any political or legal justification to rule.
